Back in 2011, on his first big trip into the Victorian High Country, Nomad Moto founder Kurt discovered just how crucial an exhaust shield can be.
"I was crossing a river on my KTM 690 when I caught a glimpse of smoke in my mirror. I pulled over, hopped off… and my pannier was on fire! My gear was melting before my eyes. I started a five-day ride with nothing but ashes. Luckily, some good adventure mates pitched in—one lent me socks, another a shirt—and we made it work. A great story in hindsight, but completely avoidable."
